Are gay baseball players allowed to play in MLB? In my home country gay baseball players are not allowed. Georgie Porgie, you would not be allowed to play baseball in my home country because you would be distracted by your lust for men in tight pants. Am I right? |

any advice please help! |
| Check the league bylaws for the governing league you play in. There will be a discrimination clause in there somewhere. Obviously you're interested in whether or not sexual orientation is protected from discrimination. If you do come out and there is a problem, you'll have that to protect you, even if legal action is required. I love baseball and I'm proud of you! |
Do you think Baseball is ready for a gay baseball player? Just wondering what you guys think. |
| What an absolutely naive question. There have been gay baseball players throughout the history of the game. There is nothing new about this. |
Is Baseball ready for a gay baseball player? Just wondering what you guys think! Thanks! :D |
| Yes! There have been closeted gay baseball players in the past, so I hope that baseball is ready for an openly gay player. |
Baseball Regulars: Don't you dislike when they accuse the Baseball player of being Gay? Like i always keep on reading Jeter and Arod are gay, and today i was reading some one saying Varitek and Papelbon. What does there Sexuality affect the game of Baseball. |
| Those are people with no lives or they are hiding their own sexual gay fantasies. |
Openly Gay Baseball Player... How do you think other players would feel? How would you feel? How would other players treat an openly gay player? from his team mates to the opposing team to the media and fans... Would his skill level have anything to do with how he gets treated?? any thoughts and answers are welcome... |
Being openly gay in any professional sport is extremly difficuly. This is why most athletes wait until they are retired before coming out of the closet.
Another poster said that it should not matter what one's sexual orientaion is... the key word is "should". It's sad, but true, but it does make a difference.
When an athlete comes out of the closet, s/he does not "become" a different person. They are the same person that you knew last week, who you played with last week, who you changed around last week. S/he wasn't "checking you out" then, and they're not "checking you out" now (in the locker room).
What truly needs to happen, is when an athlete does come out of the closet, his/her teammates, and the orginazation needs to rally around them and not make such a big deal about it.
I do think that it is harder for men to come out then it is for women. When a women comes out, society is like, "well, duh, she's good in sports", as if all lesbians are good in sports, and that all female atheletes are gay.
When a man comes out, society has this perception that the only gay men are "fairies" (sorry guys), and that they should not be good in sports. They should be your wife's hair dresser and your wedding co-ordinator. He "should not" be your favorite athlete on your favorite sports team.
I think that it'll take high profiile athlete (and not a gymnist) to come out of the closet in a high profile sport while they are still playing for it to become more accepting.
How would most people respond if they found out that Derik Jeter or A-Rod is gay? |
Why baseball is gay and way to slow? Dont answer if you like baseball but I wanna know your opinions on it??????? |
| I agree I think baseball is way too slow paced to be enjoyable. I loved playing baseball when I was a guy, but I also would only play pitcher, catcher, or first base because otherwise I felt like I never saw any action. Anyway, I think the issue doesn't lie with baseball, but with younger generations having different preferences. Baseball seems slow and boring to younger generations because we have been brought up in the Information Age and expect instant gratification. We don't like waiting for web pages to load and we certainly don't like watching some guy stand on a mound for ten minutes thinking about what to throw. JUST THROW IT MAN! Well that is how I feel anyway. It isn't baseball's fault, it's just the changing interests of newer generations. I do believe that baseball will begin to fade out of the major sports scene soon, and the only way for baseball to remain interesting down the road will be a major rule overhaul to make it more appealing. |
